exhibition Details
The gravity defying deftness of birds, insects, fairies, dragons, angels and even the idea of the possibility of human flight have long fascinated people. This exhibition brings together Bill Hammond's ethereal bird-people, Trevor Lloyd's kitschy caricatures of native birds, Richard Killeen's swarming black flying insects, Maureen Lander's Papa Hou, beautiful light-box close-ups of feather patterns and Elmer Keith, Michael Parekowhai's cocky sparrow as regal bird of prey.
Engaging enough for our youngest audience members, the exhibition will be the focus of an early childhood education programme during early December as well as holiday programmes in late January. There will also be children's books, puzzles and things to make and do in the space so come and delve into our dress-up box and spread your wings.
