Gather friends and whānau to celebrate with us at the opening of the largest exhibition in the Gallery's 132-year history. 

Toi Tū Toi Ora Contemporary Māori Art officially opens on Saturday 5 December and we have a huge line-up of free activities, performances and more to kick things off.

9—11am: Members exclusive preview (Gallery-wide)

10.45am: Kapa haka performance by Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi (Kitchener Street entrance)

11am: Gallery opens (Kitchener Street entrance)

11am—9pm: Special menu items designed by Kārena and Kasey Bird, winners of MasterChef New Zealand (Café)

11am—8pm: Hāngi with the Hāngi Master (Kitchener Street forecourt)

11am—3pm: Whānau drop in (North Atrium)

11.30am—3pm: Taonga puoro music performed by Riki Bennett (Ground & Mezzanine levels)

12—3pm: Flax flower-making with the Mai 88.6 Street Team (Kitchener Street forecourt)

4.30pm: Kapa haka performance by Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi (North Atrium)

5—6pm: Spoken word poetry with Annette Morehu, Jacqueline Carter, Tayi Tibble and Ngā Hinepūkōrero (South Atrium)

7—8.30pm: Live music by Troy Kingi (East Terrace)
