SOLD OUT Gig: Guerrilla Girls at Auckland Art Gallery

6–7.30pm

event Details

This event has now sold out. Tickets to Art After Hours are still available to purchase.

We are thrilled to present an exclusive appearance by ‘Frida Kahlo’, one of the founding Guerrilla Girls, to mark the closing weeks of our current exhibition, Guerrilla Girls: Reinventing the ‘F’ Word – Feminism! Join us at the Gallery to exclusively hear how Frida Kahlo and her fellow masked-avengers have called out institutional prejudice in posters, billboards, actions and books over the past 35 years.

Featuring music, insider secrets and the Guerrilla Girls’ characteristic satirical humour, the jam-packed solo performance is a once in a lifetime opportunity to “go bananas” with an iconic arts activist. A lively Q&A will follow the performance, allowing you to ask ‘Frida Kahlo’ about her life as a gorilla-masked art avenger.

’Frida Kahlo’s visit to New Zealand is made possible by the generous support of the Contemporary Benefactors of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

This is a ticketed event with limited capacity and we recommend booking in advance to avoid missing out!

Tickets include entry to our coinciding late-night event, Art After Hours – a special, one-off evening of food, drinks, art and entertainment inspired by the exhibition, 'Guerrilla Girls: Reinventing the ‘F’ Word – Feminism!' on Tue 1 Oct, 6–10pm.
