Juliana Engberg has been described by New Zealand art critic, Anthony Byrt, as ‘one of the most important curators ever to have come out of the Southern Hemisphere’. Since joining Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki in February 2020, she’s weathered the pandemic and extended her seven-month contract through the end of 2021.
Part-open forum, part-insight to her curatorial mind, Juliana offers up her notes on pandemic curation, producing a newspaper alongside exhibition All That Was Solid Melts and deep-diving the Gallery's holdings in preparation for Romancing the Collection, which opens early August. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from this award-winning and internationally acclaimed curator – a treat for students, art lovers and professionals alike.
Juliana Engberg has a reputation for creating ground-breaking, compelling, and engaging multi-form festivals, visual arts projects, commissions, events and public engagement programs. She is currently engaged as Senior Curator Global Contemporary at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
