SOLD OUT | Kintsugi Workshop - September

10.30am–1.00pm

event Details

Please note: This workshop has sold out.

After a series of sold-out workshops, kintsugi practitioner and teacher Yuka O’Shannessy returns to show you how to piece your broken ceramics back together with beauty.

Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi) is the Japanese art of repairing broken objects. Loosely translating to ‘golden joinery’, kintsugi values breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, using lacquer and powdered metal to make visible repairs.

Tokyo-born Yuka O’Shannessy is dedicated to connecting people and craft. As the founder of Public Record, she shares work by local and international artisans and teaches traditional techniques that help preserve goods for life.

Essential information:

  • Please bring your own broken object; it could be a plate, cup or vase that holds meaning for you, or head to an op-shop and break one yourself. Ensure you don’t pick something too complicated. Yuka will supply some broken ceramics as well just in case.
  • Refreshments and a complimentary snack will be provided.

If you are unable to attend this event because you are in self-isolation (because you have tested positive for Covid-19 or are a household contact) you are entitled to a full refund.
