Event Details

This March, step into vintage fashion heaven at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and the Central City Library at our free Vintage Festival. Packed full of vintage fashion experiences, crafting, entertainment, fashion swaps and delicious food, the Festival is sure to offer a great day out for everyone, from vintage enthusiasts to families looking for something different.

Shop up a storm with up to twenty vintage fashion retailers, including Tango and La Dolce Vita Vintage while the Hey Ladies DJs spin vintage tunes.  You can also relax in the vintage lounge, tell your woes to an agony aunt, become a mod with Beauty School Dropouts, listen to Dianne Ludwig from Welcome Back Slow Fashion, and enjoy food from Miso Ra and Wood Spirit.

At the Central City Library there will be a hive of sustainable activity. Learn the basics of macrame with Ann Boyd, make a crochet pom pom with artists Lissy and Rudi Robinson-Cole, and swap those old clothes for new threads at our Fashion Exchange in collaboration with Fashion Revolution.

Lookout for our Drag Fashion Police who will guide you between the two locations.

More information on each programme to follow. Please note this event will only proceed at orange and green and will require vaccine passes for entry.

Proudly supported by Auckland Council and the city centre targeted rate.

What better way to celebrate the exhibition Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary than two iconic, groovy, cinematic classics that will transport you back to the swinging sixties!

Alongside a fully stocked bar, you can catch A Hard Day’s Night – a 1964 rock-and-roll romp following "a day in the life" of The Beatles as fame takes them by storm – and mystery thriller Blow-Up, by critically acclaimed director Michelangelo Antonioni, wherein a bored mod-photographer discovers he’s unknowingly captured a crime scene on film. This event will be located at The Hollywood in Avondale, New Zealand’s longest-running cinema palace.
