Join us for an exclusive tour of Mark Adams: A Survey | He Kohinga Whakaahua with renowned photographers Mark Adams and Chris Corson-Scott.
For nearly a decade, artist Chris Corson-Scott has collaborated with Mark Adams to produce large colour prints of Adams’ work, many of which feature in this exhibition. Over the past 10 years, both artists have travelled together extensively, assisting each other in making work.
This unique event offers a deep dive into their photographic work, process, and long-standing collaboration.
The tour will include a Q&A session, providing a rare opportunity to engage directly with these artists.

About Mark Adams
Mark Adams was born in Linwood, Ōtautahi Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, in 1949. He has photographed all over the country focusing on the cultural convergences of Aotearoa New Zealand, its landscapes and its people. He is known for his groundbreaking work photographing Samoan tatau practices and revisiting sites of historical importance in Aotearoa New Zealand.
His work has been the subject of several publications, including Tatau: Samoan Tattoo, New Zealand Art, Global Culture, published by Te Papa Press in 2010 and reissued in 2023. His photographs are held in major public collections in Aotearoa and overseas, including Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Te Papa, and the National Gallery of Australia.
Adams’ major retrospective, Mark Adams: A Survey | He Kohinga Whakaahua, is currently on display at the Gallery, accompanied by a substantial book co-published with Massey University Press.
About Chris Corson-Scott
Chris Corson-Scott is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. His work is held in collections including Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, and Ngā Puhipuhi o Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington Art Collection. His latest book is The Afterglow of Industry: New Zealand Photographs 2012–22 (2025) with Daylight Books, New York. He is the director of art books Compound Press and is also working on a documentary about Aotearoa artist Mark Adams.
