event Details
Art Lovers’ Film presents Bauhaus Spirit, a documentary that celebrates the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus by exploring the history, present and future of the utopian design and architecture school. Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival curator Clare Buchanan will introduce the film, and tickets include a glass of wine.
Art Lovers’ Film is a partnership between Auckland Art Gallery Membership and Rialto Cinemas.
About the Film
A hundred years ago, a radical artistic utopia was born in a small German town: Bauhaus. Bauhaus was supposed to unite sculpture, painting, design and architecture into a single combined constructive discipline; a synthesis of free imagination and strict structure, enrichment ad simplification, light and clarity.
Bauhaus paid a significant contribution to our lives on a cosmopolitan scale. In Bauhaus Spirit, young architects, teachers, designers and sociologists reflect on their Bauhaus experience and on how it still shapes our society today.
