Event Details
Celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) with a special waiata performance by Aro, a bilingual music duo who passionately believe in the power of language and music to share stories about our cultural identities and whenua (land) with tamariki and adults.
Aro is made up of husband-and-wife Charles (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Te Ata, Te Āti Awa) and Emily Looker, who have been performing nationwide Aotearoa since 2017. They have featured on many national radio and TV shows and were finalists for the Maioha Award at the Silver Scroll (2019), the APRA Best Children’s Song Award (2020) and are finalists for Māori group of the year at the 2022 Waiata Māori Music Awards.
