Support the creative journey of our tamariki that will last a lifetime.

Help us deliver creative learning opportunities for our tamariki (children), rangatahi (youth) and kaiako (teachers). With your support, our education and whānau programmes help the next generation build an enriching connection with art that will last a lifetime.

DONATE NOW

Our team of professional art teachers create and deliver bespoke learning programmes that give youngsters, aged two to 20, the opportunity to learn about art and history while embarking on their own creative journey. We aim to offer the same for families visiting the Gallery through our intergenerational whānau drop-in art-making activities, interactive Creative Learning Centre and fun family activities that keep kids engaged while exploring our galleries.

Most of these programmes and resources are offered for free, but they come at a cost for the Gallery. Donate today so we can connect more youngsters with art and foster their creative journey.

Donation impact

Every donation helps the Gallery create meaningful art experiences for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

Contributions of all sizes play a vital role in our development, and donations of $5 and over are tax-deductible.

Programme feedback

Our education and engagement programmes make a lasting impact on the next generation. Below is some lovely feedback we received from tamariki, kaiako and parents last year:

‘The tactile experience of doing field trips to galleries and learning about their whakapapa is so important.’ – Māori family after participating in an education programme.

‘Thanks so much for this, she usually gets grumpy five minutes into going to places like this but she really enjoyed doing the activities in this booklet.’ – Parents feedback on the tamariki guide.

‘My students were buzzing after this – several had not visited the gallery before, and they were all amazed by the Inside Out tour. Meeting the conservators and seeing what they were working on was a real highlight, but all the staff were great.’ – Tutor, University of Auckland.

‘Thank you – we really enjoyed the visit and experiences. I thought the in-gallery art lessons were an amazing addition to your workshops. [..] These story telling activities were spot on and something which I will re-do in school.’ – Year 1 Primary school teacher.
