Auckland Writers Festival 2019 presents their Weekend Gallery Series including a diverse range of speakers hosting events across Sat 18–Sun 19 May.
Artist, mentor and provocateur Theo Schoon occupies a critical place in the cultural history of New Zealand, and was associated with many major writers and artists, including Walters, Baxter, McCahon, Fairburn, Curnow and Angus. In a series of vignettes, each based around an artwork, author of Theo Schoon: A Biography Damian Skinner situates Schoon in mid-twentieth century Aotearoa.
