Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is delighted to be hosting the Walters Prize 2024 finalists for an intimate kōrero, along with some members of this year’s prize jury.
For over 20 years the Walters Prize has provided a platform to showcase excellence in the visual arts from this country. This year, the Gallery has adopted a new triennial format for the Prize.
For this iteration of the prize, Juliet Carpenter, Owen Connors, Brett Graham and Ana Iti were selected by an independent jury as representing the most outstanding contribution to contemporary New Zealand art from 2021–23. In this kōrero, chaired by Melanie Oliver, you will hear from these incredible contemporary artists as they talk about their practice and their work for the prize, as well as from Melanie as a member of the jury, who will share her insights about the Prize from a juror's perspective. Following the panel discussion there will be an opportunity for Q&A. Tea and coffee will be available afterwards to carry on the kōrero!
