Have you ever wanted to visit the gallery after dark? 

Explore Light from Tate: 1700s to Now with the whole whānau with special after-hours access and events.  

Start by immersing yourself in interactive, light-inspired artworks, then be captivated by a light-filled performance by Dance Plant Collective and join Suzy Cato for a light-inspired storytelling session. Get crafty with glow-in-the-dark masterpieces, play with shadow and light and be blown away by magic tricks. 

Food-truck goodies will be available to purchase. 

Filling two floors of the Gallery with light-filled activations, Light Night brings masterpieces to life and creates a fun experience for the whole whānau.

5.30–8pm Purchase delicious food from Let’s Brezel and yummy flavours of gelato from Mister Gelato.

5.30–8pm Create a glow-in-the-dark artwork. 

5.30–8pm Play with shadow and light in our interactive ArtLab. 

5.30–8.30pm Create a badge inspired by the exhibition Light from Tate: 1700s to Now. 

5.30–8.30pm Explore the exhibition Light from Tate: 1700s to Now. Limited entry at one time. Please note 90 mins is the recommended viewing time. 

5.30–8.30pm Café open, with coffee, wine and cabinet food available to purchase.

5.30–5.45pm and 8–8.15pm Be swept up in Dance Plant Collective’s light-inspired dance. 

6-6.15pm Look out for pop-up performances by hip-hop dancers IDCO.

6–8pm Enjoy roving magic performances by JP the Magician. 

6.30–7pm and 7.30–8pm, Atrium Join Suzy Cato for a light-inspired storytelling session. 

6–8pm Watch pop-up light performances by Dance Plant Collective.
