Pacific Sisters: He Toa Tāera | Fashion Activists NZSL Interpreted Tour

1 – 2pm

event Details

Join us for a NZSL interpreted tour of Pacific Sisters: He Toa Tāera | Fashion Activists with Auckland Art Gallery’s Senior Curator, NZ and Pacific Art, Ron Brownson; Pacific Sisters artist, Feeonaa Wall; and fashion designer Cruze Kapa. This tour is especially for Deaf and hard of hearing people, their friends and families.

A collective of Pacific and Māori fashion designers, artists and performers, the Pacific Sisters electrified 1990s Auckland, bringing the ground-breaking style of an urban, New Zealand–born Pacific generation to the mainstream. The major retrospective, Pacific Sisters: He Toa Tāera | Fashion Activists, now showcases the collective’s innovative costumes and performances, which began as street style before expanding into multimedia experiences in venues from art galleries to night clubs.

This NZSL interpreted tour is supported by Auckland Arts Festival.
