Glasgow-born George McCulloch was one of the founders of Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited, becoming a seriously rich man and amassing an art collection of over 400 paintings and 20 sculptures by the time of his death in 1907. The Frank Bramley painting For of Such is the Kingdom of Heaven was one of his early purchases.
