Gayby Baby follows the lives of four kids – Gus, Ebony, Matt and Graham – whose parents all happen to be gay. As they each wrestle with oncoming puberty, the outside world wrestles with the issue of marriage equality, and whether or not kids of same-sex families are at risk.
Shot in the style of cinema verité, the film looks at the kids’ points of view. It is a contemporary and moving portrait of same-sex families that offers a refreshingly frank picture of what truly counts in modern life. It's time to take apart outdated notions of normalcy and review them.
Just what is a 21st century family, and how and by whom should it be defined?
