Trio Men Work

5-5.45pm and 7.15-8pm

Celebrating Mary Quant and her husband Alexander Plunkett Greene’s love of jazz we are delighted to welcome Trio Men Work, who will be playing two short jazz sets.

Sharing a deep appreciation of the jazz tradition, Lukas, Hank and George got together to celebrate the great jazz trios of the 20th century.

Performing both well-played and lesser-known standards with an emphasis on dynamic group interaction, you won't be able to resist getting your groove on!

Lukas Fritsch - Saxophone

Hank Trenton - Bass

George Brajkovich - Drums

In conversation with Emma Gleason and Alice Isles from hej hej

Come along to hear Emma Gleason from Viva in conversation with Alice Isles from hej hej. They will speak about the evolution of hej hej, their own fashion revolution with the sustainability and practicality of linen and making fashion accessible for all.

Drop in Drawing – '60s style

6.30–8pm

To celebrate Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary, join us for a special 1960s style edition of our Friday Lates Drop-in Drawing.  Bring your own paper and pencil, grab a stool, and enjoy some observational drawing with a life model styled in 60s fashion – plus mask of course!

The session will be led by artist and observational drawing tutor, Abbey Lyman (Auckland University of Technology Alumna). While at current alert levels, this session will require you to BYO drawing materials – dry media only, please!

These drawing sessions are suitable for everyone – from complete beginners to accomplished artists. All welcome - drop in early though, as places are limited.

Drop-in Drawing is generously supported by Auckland University of Technology and Gordon Harris The Art & Graphic Store.

What better way to celebrate the exhibition Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary than two iconic, groovy, cinematic classics that will transport you back to the swinging sixties!

Alongside a fully stocked bar, you can catch A Hard Day’s Night – a 1964 rock-and-roll romp following "a day in the life" of The Beatles as fame takes them by storm – and mystery thriller Blow-Up, by critically acclaimed director Michelangelo Antonioni, wherein a bored mod-photographer discovers he’s unknowingly captured a crime scene on film. This event will be located at The Hollywood in Avondale, New Zealand’s longest-running cinema palace.
