Caroline McBride: The gifting of the Partridge Collection

11am

event Details

The Partridge Collection of paintings of Māori by Gottfried Lindauer was donated to Auckland Art Gallery in 1915. Henry Partridge, an Auckland businessman, made the gift on the proviso that the people of Auckland raise £10,000 for the Belgium Relief Fund – amazingly, the money was raised within a few weeks.

Join Auckland Art Gallery Librarian/Archivist Caroline McBride as she discusses how and why the Gallery received this extraordinary gift.
