Holly Walker’s recent text The Whole Intimate Mess pairs motherhood and politics in the early twenty-first century with unexpected consequences; Barbara Brookes’s History of New Zealand Women weaves a rich narrative through the lives of Māori and Pākehā women over two centuries. An inspiring conversation between three remarkable women writers.

About the Speakers:

Barbara Brookes is a Professor of History at the University of Otago whose work has contributed significantly to new perspectives on women’s history. She has published extensively in New Zealand and overseas.

Holly Walker is a principal advisor at the Office of the Children’s Commissioner. She was a member of Parliament for the Green Party from 2011 to 2014 and is a former Rhodes scholar.
