In 1953 the New Zealand-born director of London's Redfern Gallery, Rex Nan Kivell, gifted 311 prints by leading British artists of the time to Auckland Art Gallery.
That same year, Nan Kivell also gifted a selection of prints to the National Art Gallery, the Robert McDougall Art Gallery in Christchurch and Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
Our collection includes wood engravings, colour linocuts, and lithographs by leading British modernists such as the Nash brothers, Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Claude Flight and students of the Grosvenor School of Modern Art.
