In this episode of Cultured Conversations, Auckland Art Gallery Director, Kirsten Lacy (Paisley) sits down with Nigel Borell, the Gallery’s Curator Māori Art to discuss forthcoming project Toi Tū Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art, which is set to be the biggest exhibition ever presented at the Gallery.

Nigel talks about the development of the project and the significance of staging Toi Tū Toi Ora in 2020, saying: “This is the right time for this conversation – to revisit the importance and the legacy of Māori art.” Nigel also discusses how crisis can bring about opportunity for change: "The current climate has offered us a timely opportunity to reset and to think through what our futures might be."
