An advisory committee to support the strategic growth of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki has been newly established.

Regional Facilities Auckland, Chief Executive, Chris Brooks says, ‘The Gallery Advisory Committee will provide invaluable advice and expertise – not just in guiding us through unstable global circumstances, but also in supporting our goal of the Gallery being the leading arts institution in the Pacific.’

The Committee will be chaired by retired High Court Judge the Honourable Kit Toogood who is well known for his stewardship of leading arts organisations, as well as his enduring support of the arts sector.

The inaugural members of the Gallery Advisory Committee are:

  • Andrew Barnes, Board Chair, Regional Facilities Auckland and Founder, Perpetual Guardian
  • Chris Brooks, Chief Executive, Regional Facilities Auckland
  • Kirsten Paisley, Director, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki
  • The Honourable Kit Toogood, retired High Court Judge
  • Helen Clark ONZ, former Prime Minister of New Zealand and former UNDP Administrator
  • Elizabeth Ellis, Chair, Haerewa (the Gallery’s Māori advisory board)
  • Dame Jenny Gibbs DNZM, arts philanthropist and Founder of the Auckland Contemporary Arts Trust
  • Andrew Grant, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company
  • Royal Reed, Partner, Meredith Connell, Founder of On Being Bold, and diversity and inclusion advocate
  • Christopher Swasbrook, arts philanthropist and Founder and Managing Director, Elevation Capital

‘The ten members of the Auckland Art Gallery Advisory Committee bring a wealth of experience, and it’s a tribute to their passion for our arts that they are willing to contribute to the development of the Gallery,’ says Brooks. ‘The members of the Committee represent leaders in arts, philanthropy, business, strategy, policy and governance.’
