Biography
Jules Louis Lejeune (born François Louis Lejeune) was only eighteen in 1822 when he set out on the Coquille to circumnavigate the world. He served as draughtsman on the voyage recording the people and places encountered. From this beginning he built a career in the French Navy, going on to command ships in the 1830s. Ill-health in the 1840s ultimately led to his retirement, and there is no public record of him beyond July 1851.
