Biography
Dr Maree Sheehan is a sound artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, where she is also a lecturer in the Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Development and a postgraduate lecturer in the Faculty of Art and Design, Auckland University of Technology (AUT).

Following a successful career as a singer and songwriter in the 1990s, Sheehan gained a Bachelor of Arts in English and Music, a Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Studies, and most recently a PhD from AUT in 2018.

Her original music appears in iconic films and television series such as *Once Were Warriors*, *Broken English* and *Shortland Street*. She has gone on to compose music and sound for film, dance and theatre, nationally and internationally.
