Philip Dadson (b1946) is a contemporary transdisciplinary artist and musician of Aotearoa New Zealand. A composer, performer, and experimental instrument maker, as a musician he works solo or with the group From Scratch which he founded. During his tenure at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland from 1977-2001 Dadson was a lecturer in the Sculpture department and then Head of Intermedia. Since 2001 he has worked full time at his artist practice.

In 2001 Dadson was made a Laureate of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand and in 2005 he was awarded an ONZM for services to art.

This archive (a first consignment) consists of time-based art resources collected or given to Dadson during his time at the Intermedia department. The material comprises audio-visual media, such as slides and videos, information files on artists and events, and an archive on Japanese sound artist Akio Suzuki (b1941).
