Lindauer Reproduction Handkerchiefs

Lindauer Reproduction Handkerchiefs

Archive Collection Detail

54 silk handkerchiefs illustrated with reproductions of paintings of Māori by Gottfried Lindauer. The handkerchiefs represent two sets that were created for sale to be bought as gifts for travellers returning home after holidaying in New Zealand. They carry the Stoffels (Swiss) brand and are boxed by Eskay of Wellington. Accompanying text for the six subjects depicted states that the paintings have been reproduced with the permission of the Auckland Art Gallery.
