Artwork Information
Working within the tradition of figurative painting, Julian Hooper is inspired by stories and forms from historic art and history. Exploring the topic of the Transylvanian ruler Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for Count Dracula), Hooper offers an abstract interpretation through a collection of Oceanic motifs that cleverly form the shape of a shadowy count. The title comes from the Hungarian word for ‘prince’.
