
Free general collection tours
Our friendly and knowledgeable team is here to introduce you to the art, artists and stories that make up our Gallery with free English-language tours of our general collection.
Free general collection tours are held every weekday at 1:30pm and the first Saturday of the month at 11am and 1:30pm.
What you need to know:

Tours are 45 to 60 minutes long

Free tours depart from the red couches in the main foyer on the ground floor

Please register for your tour on the day by checking in at the front desk

Free tours cannot be booked in advance. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis

We can take a maximum of 15 people on each tour

Exhibition tours
Our guides run regular tours of exhibitions. Exhibition tours provide a deeper understanding of the artworks and artists on display.
What you need to know:

Exhibition tours are 60 minutes long

Tours are led by experienced guides

Prices, times and dates vary by exhibition

Tickets should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment

We also offer tours in Mandarin and New Zealand Sign Language. Check the events page for availability

Education and school groups
We offer special tours through the general collection and visiting exhibitions for schools and education groups.
What you need to know:

Tours and activities in the general collection and the creative learning centre are free

Tours for visiting exhibitions start at $10 per person for schools and education groups

This was such an engaging tour. I gained a deep appreciation of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and how the art on display tells local and national stories.
