Sauvagesse de la Nouvelle Zelande [Savage Woman of New Zealand]

Artwork Information

These works belong to the Encyclopédie des Voyages, a 432 plate series published in five volumes in Paris. Ostensibly a visual record of the customs and culture of indigenous peoples encountered by early European explorers, the series essentially documents civilian, military, religious and ceremonial costumes.
