Artwork Information
This is William Reed's first anti-war painting, inspired by the violent spread of fascism in Europe. During 1936, newspapers were reporting Italy's invasion of Abyssinia and the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. The mix of religion and current news was innovative for the period.
