Artwork Information
The Cubists dissected the elements of an object, removing from it the proportion and harmony that is called beauty. They then positioned the elements … in such a way that we would be conscious of their unity in duration rather than in space. When they succeeded, they constructed a new relationship between them… A new beauty then arises from the formal relationships, a new space is born in the space of the imagination, and a new content is conceived in our contemplation of them.
