Thomas Price

Thomas Edward Price was born in Wales, immigrating with his family in his early teens to Melbourne. He arrived in New Zealand in his mid-20s, living in various locations for brief periods before establishing himself as a photographer in Timaru for an extended period. He subsequently moved to Masterton (1879-1897), then finally Tauranga for the latter years of his life (from 1898). Alongside his photography he was involved in local politics and an active member of Masonic Lodges in the various places he lived. He styled himself as “Thomas E. Price” or “T. E. Price” on his CDVs and cabinet cards.
