Lindauer kept this portrait of Mrs Haromi in his collection. He painted Mrs Haromi on more than four occasions. This particular likeness is the first version of Haromi, portrayed as a woman of mana (prestige, influence), as suggested by her Ngāti Kahungunu countenance which is also found in early photographs of her.
