Event detail

Join us for a conversation with Beijing-based independent curator, art critic and researcher Yang Zi about contemporary art and curatorial practice in China and beyond.

A former curator and head of public programmes at Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, one of Beijing’s leading independent contemporary art museums, Yang Zi will speak with Peter Shand, Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Elam, Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland, about the experiences, ideas and motivations that have shaped his career. Together, they will explore what it means to be a curator today, the skills involved in bringing contemporary art to audiences and how curatorial practice is responding to a rapidly changing world.

Presented as part of the public programme for Forever Tomorrow: Chinese Art Now, this event offers a unique opportunity to gain fresh insight into Chinese contemporary art and hear directly from one of its leading curatorial voices.

The conversation will be held in English and followed by an audience Q&A.
