Slide of the Woven Panel 'Woven Kauri'

Archive Collection Detail

35mm coloured slide of Ilse von Randow and Colin McCahon's joint project: a hanging titled 'Woven Kauri' (originally titled 'Kauri' but retitled to distinguish it from McCahon's paintings on the same subject). Auckland Art Gallery director Eric Westbrook commissioned von Randow and McCahon to produce this woven panel to decorate the glass door of the research library of the Gallery. The concept and structure of the work was a collaboration between the artists.

Douglas Lloyd-Jenkins has written on the work in 'Weaving Light: Ilse von Randow and Colin McCahon' in 'Art New Zealand' no 94, Autumn 2000.

'Woven Kauri' was 'lost during a later redesign of the Art Gallery', Lloyd-Jenkins writes.
