Punga stems laid like a floor - Facile Harbour
circa 1905-1910

Artwork Information
The photographs from the album “Dusky Sound” were most likely taken in 1910, when Russell Duncan led a group exploration of Dusky Sound with Mr F G Smith, Mr Walter McCarthy and Mr Willie McCaw, with the purpose of visiting the various places mentioned by Captain Cook in his chronicle of his second voyage. As part of the trip, the group visited Pickersgill Harbour, Cascade Cove, Sportsman’s Cove, Supper Cove, Anchor Island Harbour, Facile Harbour, Cormont Cove and the Waikare wreck. Duncan is reported to have taken 53 photographs during this trip, which all record the historical places that the group visited.
