Artwork Information

Metamorphosis has been a concern of Dine's work throughout his career. In his printmaking especially he has anthropomorphised tools, giving them a humanised appearance, such as marching pliers with jaws open and brushes sprouting hair. This sculpture series was started before Dine moved to London and was completed on his return to the United States in 1974.
