In Between recounts recorded and imagined stories of paranormal encounters. Lewer explores our fascination with the unexplained and the sinister in everyday life. Deformed animals and a demon terrorise a Wanganui farmhouse in the first case study; in another, a couple staying in a motel room are possessed by a strange aura emerging from the fridge; in the final, a phantom horse gallops around an old house. Drawn in a crude style and accompanied by the sound of howling winds, clattering horse hooves, and shrieking voices, In Between is playful and dark.
