Artwork Information
Pierre Bonnard was a painter, printmaker and photographer. He started painting in Paris in the early 1890s, and was one of the first artists to use pure colour in flat planes, which he then enlivened using decorative linear arabesques. Bonnard worked across a range of media, including paintings, posters, and designs for stained-glass windows and books. His still lifes were influenced by Paul Cézanne. There are four works on paper by Bonnard in Auckland Art Gallery collection.
