Tribute II

Artwork Information

20th century Modernism was framed at certain levels by both world wars and their aftermath. Many critics saw Frink's Goggle heads (1967-70) as an exploration of the base elements that lead to movements such as Fascism. By contrast, the Tribute series (1975 and 1977) commemorates victims of state persecution who have died for their beliefs. Frink stated: 'These men are heroes in the sense that they are survivors, but they are also victims stripped of everything but their human courage'.
