Biography
French navy officer Louis Isidore Duperrey was the commander of the ship the Coquille which spent two weeks in the Bay of Islands in 1824 as part of its circumnavigation of the world 1822-1825. He is credited as a source artist in an inscription for one of the eight engravings that resulted from the time spent in New Zealand waters.
