Torse noir assis

Torse noir assis by Alexander Archipenko

Artwork Detail

This work was one of the first and most revolutionary new creations from Archipenko's youthful days in Paris, and was produced at the studio in Montparnasse. His simplification of form and volume while retaining the figurative element was a clear break with traditional sculpture, and established him as one of the first great innovators of 20th century sculpture.
