Don Peebles
Untitled Canvas Relief

Artwork Detail
Don Peebles was one in a generation of New Zealand
artists who made the breakthrough to abstraction in
the 1950s. After exploring a range of hard-edged styles, he began making large, loose canvas reliefs in the late 1970s. This work is typical of Peebles’ innovative approach, which united bold colour with layered textiles.
