Mervyn Williams
Odyssey

Artwork Detail
In Odyssey, the slow weathering of paint on repurposed wood creates a unique patina, bringing to mind the conditions outside the Gallery which have influenced this work. While landscape may be a reference, Mervyn Williams channels a spiritual dimension in his practice. With its mix of modernist ideas and preened and arranged found materials, Odyssey is a fine example of the artist’s practice in the late 1990s.
