Inscription
Prospect, 27 Mt St John Avenue, Epsom, about 1867. / Leonard Terry, architect. / There is some assumption in declaring Terry the architect for this house but its first owner, D.L.Murdoch, was inspector of the Bank of New Zealand when Terry designed the Bank's Queen Street premises and certain details of joinery in the two buildings are identical. Similar houses were then fashionable in Melbourne where Terry practiced.
