Peter Peryer
Torso - Self portrait

Artwork Detail
Peter Peryer’s self-portraits are carefully planned and premeditated; the photographer often adopting different guises in them. In this work, Peryer represents himself through a cropped image of his bare torso. By completely eschewing the face, the photograph draws attention to the way portrait conventions rely so heavily on depicting the subject’s head. (Intimate Portraits, 2005)
