Simon Buis
Artwork Detail
Simon Buis's photographs are among the more quizzical works created during the 1960s. Sometimes he would fabricate an action completely for the purpose of a photograph, or recreate something that he had seen and ask people to repeat an action. This way of working was both novel in the 1960s photographic community as well as being challenging for the participants. (New Visions, 2001)
