Jacques d' Arthois
Landscape: Woodland with Lake and Figures

Artwork Detail
Jacques d'Arthois was the leading figure of the Brussels landscape school in the second half of the 17th century. He is best known as the painter of the Forêt de Soignes where one of his houses was located. His touch is light and free, the foliage often seeming in motion, and his skies clear, cool, and silvery.
