Jim Allen
Crucifix II

Artwork Detail
Jim Allen studied sculpture with Francis Shurrock at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts. He followed this training with a distinguished career as a teacher in both New Zealand and Australia. Most of his work as an artist has been non-figurative, involving performance, kinetic sculpture and environmental art. Crucifix II was created for a special exhibit focussing on religious art. Its machine-like quality and contrasting surfaces are compellingly evocative of a memorial.
