Peter Peryer
Fritz

Artwork Detail
Fritz is the title of a child’s kinetic wooden toy; perhaps named after Robert Crumb’s famous cartoon figure Fritz the Cat. Rather than the somewhat sinister and predatory figure drawn by Crumb, this toy cat is entirely charming and playful.
Animals make up a significant theme within Peryer’s photographs and this one, while being a painted carving, has all the charm of a living cat. One that even appears to be ready to leap.
